| English abstract | This paper describes how the disinfection was carried out, by anoxia atmosphere, in the collections of books and periodicals. The goal is to report how the treatment was carried out in the infested collections. The disinfection proved to be eficiente and effective, resulting in the valuation of heritages preservation of the Library Division and Documentation of Chemistry Unit of São Paulo University, and creating an awareness of the importance of adopting preventive and corrective measures |
| Portuguese abstract | Este trabalho descreve como foi realizada a desinfestação, por atmosfera anóxia, nas coleções de livros e periódicos. O objetivo é relatar o tratamento nas obras infestadas. A desinfestação mostrou-se eficiente e eficaz resultando na valorização da preservação do patrimônio bibliográfico da Divisão de Biblioteca e Documentação do Conjunto das Químicas da Universidade de São Paulo e criando uma consciência da importância das medidas preventivas e corretivas |
