| Spanish abstract | Este artículo analiza algunas de las propiedades del sistema morfológico y léxico del mocoví desde la tipología de la flexibilidad morfológica y léxica. Argumentamos que el mocoví presenta propiedades mixtas, en donde el rasgo de rigidez y flexibilidad morfológica y léxica coexisten. Basándonos en un corpus de habla natural y habla elicitada recogido de primera mano, mostramos que la morfología de diminutivo, el enclítico =oʔ y algunas raíces léxicas muestran un carácter dual al formar parte del domino nominal y verbal. Si bien el rasgo de flexibilidad morfológica es incuestionable, la flexibilidad categorial a nivel léxico plantea interrogantes analíticos que requieren mayor investigación. Los resultados de este trabajo invitan a una evaluación más detallada del mocoví a nivel interno y comparativo para alcanzar una descripción más pormenorizada de la interrelación entre la morfología y el léxico de las lenguas guaycurúes. |
| English abstract | This paper explores morphological and lexical properties of Mocoví grammar within the flexible typology framework. It is argued that Mocoví shows rigid and flexible properties at the morphological and lexical domains. Building on first-hand data of natural and elicited speech, I show that diminutive morphology, the enclitic =oʔ and certain lexical elements exhibit flexible behavior as they can be part of the nominal and verbal domains. Although the morphological flexibility is straightforward, the lexical flexibility gives rise to a challenging analytical issue that warrants further research. Mocoví flexible properties also encourage internal and comparative research on Mocoví and Guaycuruan languages to have a better understanding of the intertwined relationship between the morphology and lexicon of these languages. |
