| English abstract | The priest Alexandre de Gusmão (1629-1724) was an important Jesuit leadership from Brazil of 17th and 18th centuries. Over the catechetical texts and sermons, leave us the Arte de criar bem os filhos na idade da puerícia, book published for the first time in Lisbon in 1685. It was written in the middle of puissance climate in the education and catechetical Jesuit, the work shows brilliantly the peculiar Jesuit educational philosophy. Add to that, it is the first written work in Brazil that is concern with childhood theme. His educational and religion vision are narrowly linked. Take good care of children certainly is an indicative of parents Christian manners to him. The analyses presents that Alexandre de Gusmão developed in this work a thought about civility, texts with particular styles written about educational theme, take care of children and oneself, questions of great profusion in that age. The style, or gender, was developed from Erasmus of Rotterdam’s ideas (1466/69-1536), specially the De civilitate morum puerilium, published in 1530 |
| Portuguese abstract | O padre Alexandre de Gusmão (1629-1724) foi uma importante liderança dos jesuítas no Brasil do século XVII e início do século XVIII. Além de textos catequéticos e sermões, legou-nos a Arte de criar bem os filhos na idade da puerícia, obra publicada pela primeira vez em Lisboa no ano de 1685. Escrita em meio ao clima da pujança jesuítica na educação e na catequese, a obra expressa brilhantemente a própria filosofia educacional dos jesuítas. Além disso, é a primeira obra escrita no Brasil a tratar do tema da infância. Sua visão de educação é estreitamente ligada à de religião. Para ele, o bom cuidado das crianças é indicativo dos bons costumes cristãos dos pais ou responsáveis. A análise mostra que Alexandre de Gusmão desenvolveu nessa obra um pensamento sobre civilidade, um estilo de textos voltados aos temas da educação e do cuidado das crianças e também, do cuidado-de-si, de grande profusão naquela época. O estilo, ou gênero, foi desenvolvido a partir das idéias de Erasmo de Rotterdam (1466/69-1536), especialmente a Civilidade Pueril (De civilitate morum puerilium), de 1530 |
