| English abstract | Considering the role of the media in the psychological development, we investigated the gender issues in adolescents’ conversation in an interactive situation focused on a scene from the Brazilian soap opera, "Malhação" (Globo Network, 2001 edition). A total of 47 students participated in the study, drawn from the 6th and 8th grades of primary school and from the 1st and 3rd grades of secondary school, divided into eight groups with three female and three male each. The results indicate: a predominance of conservative moral judgment of the characters by the groups of the 6th and 8th grades, with predominance of female verbalizations and male silence; a shift of the discussion in the 3rd grade to more general matters, such as the role of the media and education; a greater equity in the frequency of verbalizations, indicating female submissiveness. | Portuguese abstract | Considerando o papel da mídia no desenvolvimento psicológico, investigaram-se as questões de gênero presentes nos atos da fala de adolescentes, numa situação de interação focada em uma cena da telenovela brasileira "Malhação" (rede Globo, edição 2001). Participaram 47 estudantes da sexta e oitava séries do primeiro grau e da primeira e terceira séries do ensino médio, divididos em oito grupos com três sujeitos femininos e três masculinos cada. Os resultados indicam: o predomínio do julgamento moral conservador dos personagens da cena nos grupos da 6ª e 8ª séries, com predomínio de verbalizações femininas e silêncio masculino; o deslocamento da discussão nos grupos da terceira série para objetos mais gerais, como o papel da mídia, a educação; a maior equidade na freqüência de verbalizações, indicando o não afrontamento feminino. A análise dos atos da fala indica a manutenção de papéis masculinos e femininos, que privilegiam o status masculino |
