| English abstract | Through the use of iconographic analysis, this article aims on presenting a discussion regarding the presence of local Palestinian deities on the coins produced by Palestinian cities during Roman domination of the region. Departing from this, we aim at understanding Rome's relationship with the cities' under its yoke, their resistance, the ideological-political game between Romans and the local elites and the political, economic, social, cultural and religious questions arising therefrom |
| Portuguese abstract | Tomando como base a análise iconográfica das moedas, este artigo pretende apresentar uma discussão sobre as relações existentes no Império Romano entre Roma e a provincia Síria-Palestina. Partindo dessa perspectiva, visamos compreender a relação de Roma com as cidades no âmbito do seu jugo, das formas de resistência existentes, o jogo político-ideológico entre os romanos e as elites locais e as questões políticas, econômicas, sociais, culturais e religiosas daí decorrentes |
