| Spanish abstract | La escalada del confl icto en Atlántico sur ha redefi nido la naturaleza del mismo. Tres claves geopolíticas ayudan a comprender de forma integral lo que hoy ocurre en esa zona del planeta: lucha por recursos naturales (especialmente petróleo y riqueza ictiológica en menor medida), proyección antártica y control efectivo de los espacios territorial, aéreo y marítimo de las islas. La escalada del confl icto ofrece una extraordinaria singularidad, el enfrentamiento de dos orbis pictus enteramente diferenciados. Por un lado, el ejercicio del poder según se ha entendido históricamente, con capacidades políticas, diplomáticas y militares por el lado británico, y la opción argentina por una política exterior y de defensa de carácter pacifista. La larga falta de inversión en el sector Defensa invitan a preguntarse si tal opción es por necesidad o por convicción |
| English abstract | The escalation of the confl ict in the South Atlantic has redefi ned its nature. Three geopolitical clues help to comprehensively understand what is happening at present in that part of the planet: the fi ght for natural resources (especially oil and secondly, ichthyologic wealth), Antarctic projection and effective land, air and maritime control over the islands. The escalation of the confl ict offers an extraordinary peculiarity: the confrontation of the two orbis pictus entirely differentiated. On the one hand, the exercise of power as it has been historically understood, with political, diplomatic and military capabilities on the British side, and on the other, the Argentinean option for a pacifi st foreign and defense policy. The long absence of investment in the Defense sector points at the question of whether this is a need or a conviction |
