| Resumen en inglés | The article analyzes the ebb and flow of the Latin American left in power since the beginning of the 21st century (1999-2024), in relation to the challenges it faces in order to achieve effective regional integration. The scenarios in which the governing left has developed are analyzed; the undoubted advances achieved during the first cycle of progressive governments that culminated in the creation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and the stagnations and setbacks in the face of the rebound of reactionary and conservative forces. Some ideas are outlined regarding the possibilities of the governing left in the face of Latin American and Caribbean integration. |
| Resumen en español | En el artículo se analizan los flujos y reflujos de la izquierda latinoamericana en el poder desde comienzos del siglo XXI (1999-2024), en relación con los retos y desafíos que enfrenta de cara a alcanzar una efectiva integración regional. Se analizan los escenarios en que se ha desenvuelto la izquierda gobernante; los indudables avances alcanzados durante el primer ciclo de gobiernos progresistas que culminó en la creación de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC), y los estancamientos y retrocesos ante el repunte de las fuerzas reaccionarias y conservadoras. Se esbozan algunas ideas referentes a las posibilidades de la izquierda gobernante de cara a la integración latinoamericana y caribeña. |
