| Spanish abstract | La palabra cahuín ha vehiculado distintos y variables sentidos: unidad social mapuche, reunión con borrachera, intriga, etcétera. El presente artículo explora la posible lógica que comunica estos diversos sentidos, y que se basaría en el vínculo etnográficamente identificado entre venganza y borrachera. Cahuín, venganza y borrachera funcionarían como mecanismos de producción del tiempo y como una forma de vínculo social en sociedades sin Estado. Asimismo, la venganza introduce el problema de los espectros que sobreviven a la equivalencia intercambiaria y que funcionan como una suerte de energía histórica o patrimonial que sociedades con y sin Estado administrarán cada una a su manera. Por último se plantea que el cahuín, en tanto forma polémica del vínculo social, no dejaría de funcionar en las sociedades modernas y con Estado constituyendo una forma espectral de la comunidad que erosiona las bases de legitimación del orden soberano |
| English abstract | The word cahuín has conveyed different and varying meanings: a Mapuche social unit, binge, intrigue... We argue that the logic that possibly connects these various meanings may be based on the ethnographically identified link between revenge and binge. Cahuín, revenge and binge would work as mechanisms of time production and as a form of social bond in stateless societies. Also, revenge introduces the problem of spectra that survive exchange equivalence and function as a sort of historicity or heritage energy that can be managed by both, state societies and stateless societies in their own ways. Finally, it is argued that the cahuín, as a polemical version of the social bond, would continue working in modern state societies by the shaping of a spectral community that erodes the basis of sovereignty legitimacy |
