| Spanish abstract | La investigación que expone el artículo permitió demostrar que el nombre geográfico es un elemento que interviene en la conformación del concepto de identidad territorial; para esta comprobación se tomaron los nombres de los municipios del altiplano Cundiboyacense y su entorno (espacio natural donde la comunidad interacciona-interrelaciona con la misma del altiplano). Como elementos de estudio se abordaron dos aspectos: los teóricos de la onomástica, con el fin de argumentar que la geografía constituye uno de los tres pilares básicos en los cuales se sustenta toda investigación sobre nombres de lugar, siendo los dos restantes la lingüística y la historia, y los teóricos del concepto de identidad territorial. El trabajo subraya que los nombres geográficos contienen expresiones de identidad que constituyen un fiel reflejo de las realidades del territorio (diversidad e interacciones), elaboradas desde las relaciones individuales y colectivas establecidas con el entorno, manifestadas en la dimensión geográfica del espacio físico, cultural, social y sus transformaciones hasta las relaciones regionales y globales. En este sentido, los nombres del altiplano Cundiboyacense y su entorno atestiguan dos aspectos fundamentales: primero, la importancia que han tenido las actividades agrarias en la parte rural, y segundo, la apropiación del territorio que se registra en los nombres geográficos, cambiados en los dos últimos siglos, y adaptados a unas nuevas territorialidades de una región |
| English abstract | The research demonstrates that the geographic name is an element that contributes to the conformation of the territorial identity's concept. It is proved by the names of the towns located on the Cundinamarca and Boyacá's plateau and their surroundings (natural space where the plateau communities interact and interrelate among themselves). Two aspects are entered upon, as study elements: the theoretical aspects from onomastics, with the aim to argue that geography is one of the three basic pillars that support any research on place names, being the others, linguistics and history, which comprise the theoretical elements related to the territorial identity's concept. The work stresses that geographic names contain identity's expressions that reflect the territorial realities (diversity and interactions), resulted from the individual and collective relations with the environment, expressed in the geographic dimension of the physical, cultural and social space and their transformations into regional and global relations. In this sense, the names of the Cundinamarca and Boyacá's plateau, and its environment, testify two fundamental aspects: first, the importance of the agrarian activities in the rural area; and second, the territorial appropriation recorded in the geographic names, changed during the last two centuries, and adapted to the new territorialities of a region |
