| Spanish abstract | El presente artículo busca comparar las experiencias militares de Chiapas y Guatemala durante la primera mitad del siglo XIX, con el objetivo de indagar en las dimensiones sociales de la militarización, y su peso en la memoria y en la historiografía. Con la herencia compartida de una mayoritaria población indígena y los proyectos de ciudadanía que la segregaban, la indagación sobre el ejercicio de la guerra constituye otro camino para entender la historia política y social de estos territorios |
| English abstract | This article compares the military experiences in Chiapas and Guatemala during the first half of the nineteenth century with the objective of investigating the social dimensions of militarization and its weight on memory and historiography. With the shared heritage of a majority indigenous population and the citizenship projects that segregated them, my inquiry into the exercise of war provides another way to understand the political and social history of these territories |
