| Spanish abstract | Dolores Del Río was the first Mexican woman to succeed in the UnitedStates. Her condition as returned migrant has received only marginalattention. In the 1940s, she applied some of the most valuable skillsof the American film industry, such as innovation, knowledge of themarket and a powerful work ethic. Her life experience reveals howreturn migration can nurture successful entrepreneurship in Mexico. Italso demonstrates, on a theoretical level, that personal qualities, and notsocial macro conditions, are the central factor behind successful returnmigration. |
