| English abstract | In this paper we verify that the Marginalization Index (IM) retains an increasingly smaller percentage of the information that it attempts to summarize. At municipal level, this figure has fallen from 62% in 1990 to 49% in 2015. The reason is that the variables of the IM have been generating two differentiated processes: one related to the deficiencies in urbanization, and another to the deficiencies in housing services. We propose the calculation of two complementary indexes: the urbanization deficiencies index and the housing deficiencies index. These indexes show consistent results with other investigations and allow the identification of the municipalities and entities that suffer greater deficiencies in each aspect. |
| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se comprueba que el Índice de Marginación (IM) retiene un porcentaje cada vez menor de la información que trata de resumir. A nivel de municipios, esta cifra ha pasado de 62%, en el año 1990, a 49%, en 2015. La causa es que las variables del IM han ido configurando dos procesos diferenciados: uno vinculado a las carencias en la urbanización y, otro, a las carencias en los servicios de las viviendas. Se propone el cálculo de dos índices complementarios: el de carencias en urbanización y el de carencias en vivienda. Estos índices arrojan resultados coherentes con los de otras investigaciones y permiten identificar de manera específica los municipios y entidad que padecen mayores rezagos en cada aspecto. |
