| Spanish abstract | La industria frutícola chilena ha logrado situarse como una de las más prósperas en la canasta exportadora del país y ha tenido una significativa importancia en el mercado mundial, logrando posicionarse como el segundo exportador a nivel mundial. Dado lo anterior, estudiar la competitividad de dicha industria es importante para el desarrollo exportador del sector agroindustrial chileno y para la economía en general. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo fue medir la competitividad de la uva de mesa a través del índice de Vollrath (1991) y estudiar sus determinantes. El análisis del indicador demostró que la competitividad fue, en general, creciente hasta el año 2002 y que las principales determinantes de la competitividad son el tipo de cambio real y el producto interno bruto real |
| English abstract | The Chilean fruit industry has managed to position itself as one of the most prosperous in the country’s export basket and has had a significant importance in the global market, managed to become the second largest exporter worldwide. Given the above, study the competitiveness of the industry is important for export development of the Chilean agribusiness and the economy in general. Therefore, the aim of this study was to measure the competitiveness of table grape through Vollrath’s index (1991) and study its determinants. The analysis showed that the competitiveness indicator was generally increased until 2002 and that the main determinants of competitiveness are the real exchange rate and real gross domestic product |
