English abstract This article addresses a topic of vital importance in the process of improvement of Higher Education, aimed at achieving higher levels of efficiency and quality, in correspondence with the Guidelines of the economic and social policy of the Party and the Revolution. At the University of Las Tunas this policy has advanced and experience in the implementation of the management system of the process of comprehensive training of university students in the base link, specifically with the designation of the main academic year professor as the highest academic authority of according to the particularities of the faculties. It is necessary to bear in mind that each one of them has done so in virtue of the human resources available to achieve the improvement of the quality of the teaching-educational process, which is basically dependent on the qualification and performance of the faculty. However, some of these officials may still be found who do not have sufficient scientific and pedagogical experience to fully carry out this function. From the diagnosis it was possible to corroborate that the preparation of this professor still does not reach the sufficient knowledge to adequately fulfill his attributions, obligations and his function of direction, what limits the successful conduction of the university community of the academic year.
Spanish abstract Este artículo aborda un tema de vital importancia en el proceso de perfeccionamiento de la Educación Superior, encaminado a lograr niveles superiores de eficiencia y calidad, en correspondencia con los Lineamientos de la política económica y social del Partido y la Revolución. En la Universidad de Las Tunas esta política ha avanzado y se acumulan experiencias en la implementación del sistema de gestión del proceso de formación integral de los estudiantes universitarios en el eslabón base, específi camente con la designación del profesor principal de año académico como máxima autoridad académica de acuerdo a las particularidades de las facultades. Es necesario tener en cuenta que cada una de ellas lo ha hecho en virtud de los recursos humanos con que cuenta para lograr el mejoramiento de la calidad del proceso docente-educativo, dependiente en lo fundamental, de la calificación y desempeño del claustro. Sin embargo, pueden encontrarse aún algunos de estos funcionarios que no tienen la suficiente experiencia científica y pedagógica para el cabal cumplimiento de esta función. A partir del diagnóstico se pudo corroborar que la preparación de este profesor aún no alcanza los suficientes conocimientos para cumplir adecuadamente sus atribuciones, obligaciones y su función de dirección, lo que limita la conducción exitosa de la comunidad universitaria del año académico.
