| Spanish abstract | El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los rasgos intrahistóricos del capítulo III titulado “Nueva Cádiz” de la novela Cubagua. Los rasgos intrahistóricos básicos del relato son: la perspectiva de la historia desde la subalternidad, el personaje historiador, la reflexión del discurso ficcional sobre el historiográfico, la intertextualidad. Los referentes teóricos serían la narrativa intrahistórica, la nueva novela histórica, la historia desde abajo y el nuevo historicismo. Lo intrahistórico socava la autoridad de la historiografía tradicional y propone otra perspectiva referida a la gente corriente marginada de la historia oficial. Como conclusión, Cubagua es la primera novela venezolana que contiene un relato de rasgos intrahistóricos; la novela se adelanta cuatro décadas a la narrativa intrahistórica surgida a partir de los años setenta |
| English abstract | The objective of this article is to analyze the intra-historical characteristics of the narrative titled “Nueva Cádiz,” included in Chapter III of the novel Cubagua. Those intra-historical characteristics are: the perspective of history from subalternity, the character as historian, reflection on fictional discourse about historiography and inter-textuality. The theoretical referents would be intra-historical narrative, the new historical novel, history from below and new historicism. Intra-history undermines the authority of traditional historiography and proposes a different perspective that refers to common people excluded from official history. Conclusions are that Cubagua is the first Venezuelan novel containing a narration with intra-historical traits; the novel is four decades ahead of subsequent intra-historical novels which arose starting in the 1970s |
