| English abstract | This articles discusses the the grounds of modern scientific knowledge from the epistemological ruptures that reorganize the ordering and the construction of knowledge. Foucault pointed out two great discontinuities in the episteme of western culture: one that is found in the Classical Age and one that is systematized on the edge of modernity. These demonstrate that man is not the object of science, but the positive domain of knowledge. It is the own general position of the episteme, opposing in this way the archaeological rooting of the “same” that rationalizes similarities, and the “other”, that reveals the limits of this rational and scientific thinking |
| Portuguese abstract | Procurou-se refletir sobre os fundamentos do conhecimento científico moderno, a partir das rupturas epistemológicas que reorganizam a ordenação e a construção do saber. Foucault assinalou duas grandes descontinuidades na epistéme da cultura ocidental: a que se contextualiza na Idade Clássica e a que se sistematiza no limiar da modernidade. O que demarca que o homem não é objeto de ciência, mas sim domínio positivo do saber. É a própria disposição geral da epistéme, contrapondo assim o enraizamento arqueológico do “mesmo”, que racionaliza semelhanças, e do “outro”, que revela o limite desse pensar racional e científico |
