| Spanish abstract | La reabsorción radicular externa es una problemática asociada en muchos casos a pacientes con tratamiento ortodóntico. Se relata el caso de paciente género femenino de 18 años de edad con tratamiento ortodóntico de 5 años que al exámen clínico se evidenció movilidad grado III en la región incisiva inferior y movilidad grado II en la región incisiva superior. Se indicó radiografía panorámica observándose pérdida de dos tercios de la superficie radicular en las unidades dentarias 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2, al igual que pérdida de un tercio de la superficie radicular de las unidades dentarias 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, la impresión diagnóstica fue reabsorción radicular externa. Se procedió al retiro de aparatología ortodóntica y colocación de aparatología funcional tipo Hawley, con control cada quince días durante tres meses iniciales de tratamiento. En evaluaciones posteriores se observó mejoría de las condiciones iniciales. Se concluyó que la aplicación incorrecta de fuerzas pueden ocasionar esta patología, de allí que el profesional de la Odontología debe ser vigilante de los principios biomecánicos en la terapéutica Ortodóntica, que le permite planificar el mejor sistema de fuerzas a utilizar, tanto en la forma como en la cuantificación, a fin de garantizar un tratamiento idóneo |
| English abstract | The outer radicular reabsorption is a problem associated in many cases with patients with orthodontic treatment. It is described a case of a 18-year-old female patient with an orthodontic treatment made 5 years ago, which clinical examination shows evidence of mobility degree III in the lower incisive area and mobility degree II in the upper incisive area. It is suggested to take a panoramic radiograph, noticing loss of two thirds (2/3) of the radicular layer in the dental unities 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2, and it is also noticed loss of one third (1/3) of the radicular layer in the dental unities 1.1, 1.2, 2.2, 2.2. The diagnostic impression is outer radicular reabsorption. The removing of the orthodontic aids is made and it is placed a functional aid type Hawley, with a check control each 15 days during the first three months of the treatment. On post examinations, it is noticed the recovery of the initial conditions. It is concluded that the improper application of forces can cause this kind of pathology, so the professional in Dentistry should be an observant of the biomechanical principles in the orthodontic therapeutics, which allow him or her to plan in a better way the system of forces to be used as in the form as in the quantification, with the aim of ensure a suitable treatment |
