| Spanish abstract | El propósito de esta investigación fue identificar a través de una revisión bibliográfica los indicadores del maltrato infantil, utilizando las publicaciones desde 1995 hasta la actualidad, encontrada en internet es los buscadores Scielo, PubMed, Medline, en inglés, portugués y español, recopilación de datos obtenidos de organizaciones oficiales, e investigación de documentos impresos. Los estudios señalan que a menudo el primer profesional de la salud para examinar de forma rutinaria al niño es el Odontopediatra y, entre los indicadores que se pueden observar están: laceraciones, equimosis, quemaduras, traumatismos dentales, entre otros. Se concluye que el Odontopediatra debe estar preparado para reconocer, diagnosticar y notificar sus sospechas de maltrato a autoridades competentes, debido a que, una de las áreas más afectadas en el abuso físico es la orofacial |
| English abstract | The aim of this research was to identify through the bibliographic review the indicators of the child maltreatment. Using medical literature from 1995 to the present time, also it was found on the Internet through the virtual libraries as Scielo, PubMed, Medline published in several languages; furthermore, data collection obtained from official organizations, and investigation of printed documents. Studies have found that often the first health professional who routinely examines the child is the Pediatric Dentistry and, among the indicators that can be observed we have lacerations, ecchymoses, burns, dental traumatisms, to name a few. It is concluded that the Pediatric Dentistry must be prepared to recognize, diagnose and report suspected child maltreatment to the authorities due to the fact that the most affected areas by physical abuse are the orofacial injuries |
