| Spanish abstract | El Seno Maxilar (SM), es considerado como el mayor de los Senos Paranasales, donde se manifiestan patologías que tienen relación con procesos degenerativos, traumáticos y tumorales. La radiología convencional ha sido la herramienta utilizada en estos casos, pero tiene grandes limitaciones por la superposición de las estructuras óseas del cráneo, de allí que se han propuesto a la Tomografía Computarizada (TC), para evaluar su utilidad en la interpretación de patologías del Seno Maxilar. Se trata de un paciente femenino de 34 años de edad, presentando asimetría facial izquierda. Al examen clínico presentó ausencia dentaria del 24 y presencia de fístula bucosinusal en vestibular y palatino. Al examen radiográfico presentó unidad dentaria 24 incluida, rodeado por una imagen radiolúcida de bordes regulares y corticalizados, de aproximadamente 4 mm de grosor. Igualmente se observó, un aumento de la radiopacidad del seno maxilar izquierdo. A través de las imágenes obtenidas de la TC se determinó que la unidad dentaria involucrada, estaba localizada dentro del seno maxilar y no sobreexpuesto a él. Así mismo, se evidenció la expansión de los límites o paredes que conforman el seno maxilar y la pérdida de continuidad y perforación de las extensiones o prolongaciones palatinas y malar. Los resultados de este caso demostraron que la evaluación clínica, radiográfica e imagenológica temprana, así como la participación de un equipo multidisciplinario, permiten solucionar a corto plazo las alteraciones y/o patologías del Seno Maxilar. Se concluye que la TC es un método de diagnostico eficaz en la interpretación de patologías del Seno Maxilar |
| English abstract | The Maxilar Sine (SM), is considered like the major of the Paranasales Sines, where pathologies are pronounced that have relation with degenerative processes, traumatic and tumorlike. Conventional radiology has been the tool used in these cases, but it has great limitations by the superposition of the bony structures of the skull, from which they have seted out to computerized tomography (TC), to evaluate his utility in the interpretation of pathologies of the Maxilar Sine. Left face asymmetry is a feminine patient of 34 years of age, presenting/displaying. To the clinical examination it presented/displayed the 24 dental absence of and presence of vestibular and palatal bucosinusal fistula in. To the x-ray examination you presented/displayed: 24 including, surrounded by a radiolucent image of regular edges and corticalizados, approximately 4 mm in thickness. Also he was observed, an increase of the radiopacidad of the sine to maxilar left. Through the obtained images of the TC one determined that the involved dental unit, was located within the sine to maxilar and was not exhibited to. Also, the expansion of the limits or walls that conform the sine to maxilar and lost of continuity and the perforation of the extensions or palatal prolongations was demonstrated and to malar. The results of this case demonstrated that clinical, x-ray and imagenological the evaluation early, as well as the participation of a multidisciplinary equipment, allows to solve short term to the alterations and/or pathologies of the Maxilar Sine. It conclude that the TC is a method of effective diagnosis in the interpretation of pathologies of the Maxilar Sine |
