| English abstract | The article attempts to be an original contribution to the recent studies regarding the tensions between the State and the favelas where the Pacification Police Units (UPP) have been deployed, as one of the public actions within the framework of transformations mo - tivated by the international events in Rio de Janeiro. The Morro do Borel and the nearby favelas, which jointly compose the perimeter of the UPP Borel in Tijuca, a neighborhood in the North Zone, are the starting point of analysis towards the different aspects of the “pacification” process and its unfolding on the everyday lives of the residents |
