| Spanish abstract | Este artículo analiza la construcción del imaginario “folklorista” de una comunidad que se define como intercultural y está integrada por tres grupos socioculturales: menonitas, mestizos y rarámuris. Ese imaginario surge de un discurso “oficial” en el municipio de Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, y pretende justificar los procesos sociales que son la base de las relaciones interétnicas en la región. A través de las diferencias materiales y de las distintas capacidades de autogestión y de negociación política de cada grupo, se puede observar la tensión social propia de esas relaciones interétnicas, inmersa en una complejidad cotidiana que cuestiona el discurso oficial que invisibiliza la jerarquía y las diferencias existentes entre estas “tres culturas” |
| English abstract | This article deals with the process of building the “folklorist” imaginary of a community that defines itself as intercultural, composed of three sociocultural groups: Mennonites, Mestizos, and Rarámuris. This imaginary stems from an “official discourse” in the municipality of Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, which tries to justify the social processes that are the basis of interethnic relations in the region. Through the material differences, as well as the diverse capabilities of self-governance and political negotiation of each of these groups, it is possible to observe the social tension characteristic of these interethnic relations, in an everyday complexity which questions the official discourse that masks the hierarchy and differences that exist among these “three cultures.” |
