| Spanish abstract | Este artículo es un ensayo teórico sobre el concepto de «territorio» y en él propongo un debate sobre tipos de territorios y disputas territoriales. Mis razones surgen de la utilización de este concepto por parte de diferentes cientistas para diversos estudios en espacios geográficos disímiles, y por algunas instituciones para la elaboración de proyectos de políticas públi - cas, sobre todo en los que tienen relación con el desarrollo rural. Además del significado clásico de «territorio», procuro analizar el concepto en términos de «espacio de gobernancia»; propongo, entonces, una tipología de territorios a partir de referencias bibliográficas e investigaciones de campo realizadas en diferentes países. Mi objetivo es ampliar el debate sobre el concepto de «territorio» y defender la idea de que su definición es una relación de poder que debe ser debatida constantemente. Con la emergencia del territorio en la actualidad, este poder es muy utilizado por las instituciones y los estudiosos para impulsar proyectos de investigación y desarrollo territorial rural que involucran a millones de personas en su hábitat |
| English abstract | This article is a theoretical essay on the Territory. And based on this reflection I propose a debate about the types of territories and territorial disputes. What motivated me to think about these objects is that the Territory has been chosen by scientists from various fields of knowledge as a central concept for the study of different scales and types of geographic areas. The concept also became the main theme often used by different institutions in the development of public policy projects, mostly for rural development. In this essay on the Territory, I try to go beyond the classical meaning of the term most often used as an area of governance. I propose a typology of territories from bibliographic references and field research conducted in different countries. The objective of this paper is to broaden the debate on the territory and defend the idea that the definition of its meaning is a relation of power that needs to be constantly debated. This power is now widely used by institutions and scholars in conducting research projects and rural territorial development that affects millions of people in their habitats |
