| Spanish abstract | La isoinmunización a las células sanguíneas permanece como una de las más comunes causas de anemia fetal. La amniocentesis y la cordocentesis han sido usadas por muchos años para el diagnóstico y seguimiento de anemia fetal. Estas técnicas son sin embargo invasivas y muchas complicaciones se asocian con su uso. El diagnóstico no invasivo de anemia fetal se ha realizado utilizando la ecografía doppler. Basados en evidencia reciente, varios investigadores recomiendan el uso de la medición de la velocidad del pico sistólico de la arteria cerebral media (MCA PSV, por sus siglas en inglés) en el manejo de los fetos con riesgo de anemia debido a isoinmunización Rh; esta prueba además permite el diagnóstico de anemia fetal debida a otras etiologías. La MCA PSV es la mejor prueba para el diagnóstico no invasivo de anemia fetal. Es importante enfatizar en el entrenamiento de los ecografistas como condición básica y fundamental |
| English abstract | The purpose of this article is to review all recent studies published in regards to the noninvasive diagnosis of fetal anemia and to give recommendations for the use of these techniques. The isoinmunization red blood cells remains as the most common causes for fetal anemia. The amniocentesis and the cordocentesis have been used for many years as a diagnostic tool for fetal anemia. These techniques are all invasive and many of them have complications. The noninvasive diagnosis of fetal anemia has been made using the Doppler ultrasonography. Based on recent evidence, several investigators recommend the use of middle cerebral artery peak systolic velocity (MCA PSV) in the handling of the fetuses with risk of anemia due to isoinmunization Rh; besides, this test may allow us to diagnose fetal anemia due to other etiologies. MCA PSV is the best test for noninvasive diagnosis of fetal anemia. It is important to emphasize the special training that the ultrasonographer physician should have, in order to achieve a correct diagnosis |
