| Spanish abstract | El objetivo de este estudio es evaluar la variabilidad δ13C y δ15N de la megafauna y la gran fauna extinta que habitaron en el sur de Patagonia durante la transición Pleistoceno-Holoceno. Se presentan valores de δ13C y δ15N en muestras de colágeno óseo de Hippidion saldiasi, Mylodontidae, Lama gracilis y Lama guanicoe del sitio AEP-1 de la localidad de Piedra Museo entre ca. 12,8 y 9,2 ka AP. Estos valores se comparan con δ13C y δ15N de Lama guanicoe del Holoceno de AEP-1 y Cueva Maripe para evaluar la continuidad y la discontinuidad de los valores isotópicos de esta especie durante la transición Pleistoceno-Holoceno y el Holoceno. Se discute las implicancias de estos valores para la comprensión del poblamiento humano del sur de Patagonia y de las interacciones entre los antiguos pobladores con la fauna y el ambiente |
| English abstract | The aim of this study is to evaluate the δ13C and δ15N variability of megafauna and the large extinct fauna that lived in southern Patagonia during Pleistocene-Holocene transition. δ13C and δ15N values from bone collagen of Hippidion saldiasi, Mylodontidae, Lama gracilis and Lama guanicoe from the AEP-1 site in Piedra Museo locality between ca. 12.8 and 9.2 ka BP are presented. These values are compared with the δ13C and δ15N values of Lama guanicoe of the Holocene from AEP-1 and Cave Maripe in order to evaluate the continuity and discontinuity of the isotopic values of this species during the Pleistocene-Holocene transition and Holocene. Finally, we discuss the implications of these values for the understanding of the human peopling of southern Patagonia and the interactions between the first Americans with the fauna and the environment |
