| Spanish abstract | El texto reconstruye la relación de Octavio Paz con Francia desde su infancia hasta su muerte. Se muestra cómo Francia era un imán para los intelectuales de la generación del poeta mexicano y cómo su pertenencia a ese país se solidificó a raíz de su estancia de diez años en París, en calidad de diplomático. Octavio Paz no fue considerado como un objeto de estudio, como muchos otros creadores latinoamericanos, sino como un sujeto con el que los intelectuales franceses dialogaban directamente. El repaso termina con la labor de traductor de la poesía francesa moderna que Octavio Paz cumplió a lo largo de su vida |
| English abstract | The text reconstructs the relationship between Octavio Paz and France from his childhood until his death. It shows how France was a magnet for intellectuals in the Mexican poet’s generation and how his sense of belonging to that country solidified through his ten-year stay as a diplomat in Paris. Unlike many other Latin American creators, Octavio Paz was not considered as an object of study, but as a subject with whom French intellectuals maintained direct dialogue. The review ends with the work as a translator of modern French poetry which Octavio Paz pursued throughout his life |
