| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se hace un análisis de la incidencia que el ideario de José Enrique Rodó tuvo en la obra de Alfonso Reyes. Al leer hoy muchos de los textos del mexicano se advierte la sensación de que el discípulo nunca olvidó las ideas ni los preceptos que el maestro uruguayo le había enseñado: el entusiasmo y el optimismo vital, la ejemplaridad del milagro helénico, la importancia de establecer un proyecto educativo humanista para las jóvenes generaciones, el ideal de una magna patria latinoamericana. | English abstract | This article addresses the impact of the ideas of José Enrique Rodó on the work of Alfonso Reyes. In the text, it will be shown how the Rodonian topics reverberated through the inflections and porosity of Alfonso Reyes’ art as an essayist. In fact, in Reyes’ writings we can recognize some of the topics that characterized the thinking of Rodó: the enthusiasm and vital optimism, the importance he attributed to the Hellenic miracle, the significance of establishing a humanistic educational project for young generations, and finally, the ideal of a great Latin American homeland |
