| Spanish abstract | El artículo analiza el proyecto pastoral del primer obispo de Chilapa, Ambrosio María Serrano (1864-1876), prestando atención a su biografía y a los antecedentes que dieron lugar a la creación del obispado de Chilapa en 1862. Se argumenta que Serrano desarrolló un proyecto pastoral cuyo objetivo fue fortalecer la estructura eclesiástica y la autoridad clerical en Guerrero a través de una constante administración de los sacramentos, el fomento de prácticas y devociones religiosas ortodoxas y la aplicación de los lineamientos pontificios de Pío IX. El obispo impulsó una pastoral que buscó fortalecer las estructuras diocesanas en Guerrero-Chilapa y afianzar la práctica ortodoxa del culto en la sociedad |
| English abstract | This paper analyzes the pastoral project of the first bishop of Chilapa, Ambrosio Maria Serrano (1864-1876), paying special attention to his biography and the background that led to the setting up of the diocese of Chilapa in 1862. It is argued that Serrano developed a pastoral project whose objective was to strengthen the church structure and the clerical authority in Guerrero through a constant sacramental administration, the promotion of religious practices and devotions, as well as the application of the papal guidelines issued by Pius IX. The bishop, then, implemented a pastoral that sought to strengthen the diocesan structures in Guerrero-Chilapa and the Catholic practice in the local society |
