| Spanish abstract | En esta investigación se describe el uso del discurso directo e indirecto en el habla de Mérida partiendo de sus características sintácticas y pragmáticas. Se analiza: la frecuencia con la que los hablantes usan el discurso directo e indirecto, los verbos introductores de cita, la presencia de la conjunción que, la preferencia por la autocita o la heterocita, el uso de los mecanismos de cita según la edad y el sexo de los hablantes y por último las funciones pragmáticas de la cita. Se observó que l os hablantes prefieren usar el discurso directo para reportar y que la mayoría de las veces presentan el reporte con un verbo de comunicación, al mismo tiempo notamos que hay mayor empleo de la heterocita que de la autocita en hombres y mujeres. En cuanto a las fun ciones pragmáticas la más empleada en el discurso directo es ejemplificar y en discurso indirecto es relatar. En relación al sexo y a la edad de los hablantes se observó que tanto hombres como mujeres de los tres grupos generacionales emplean con mayor frecuencia el DD para reportar |
| English abstract | This research describes the use of direct and indir ect speech by speakers in Merida, based on syntactic and pragmatic features. The following aspects are analyzed: frequency of use of direct and indirect speech, verbs that introduce quotes, the presence of the conjunction "que", the preference for self-quotation or for quoting others, use quotation mechanisms according to age and sex, and finally the pragmatic functions of the quotation. It was observed that speakers prefer to use direct speech, and that most of the time they report it by using a communication verb; at the same time, it was found that most of them quote others more often than themselves, both men and wom en. As for the pragmatic functions, the most used in direct speech is illustrating, and in indirect speech is telling. In relation to sex and age of the speakers, it was observed that both men and women of the three generational groups use more frequently direct speech |
