| English abstract | This paper aims to diagnose was constructed forms in which the relationship between religion and politics in Brazil. Thus, we seek to present the main dynamics in which both spheres dealt with and approached each other. From this, to establish reflections and comparisons between different historical periods, in order to realize that religious intervention in the political system is not a recent phenomenon in Brazil. | Portuguese abstract | Este texto tem por objetivo diagnosticar as formas de construção da relação entre religião e política no Brasil. Desse modo, buscamos apresentar as principais dinâmicas de enfretamento e aproximação entre estas esferas. A partir disso, estabelecer reflexões e comparações entre os distintos períodos históricos, de modo a permitir a compreensão de que a expressiva intervenção atual da religião no sistema político não é um fenômeno recente no Brasil.
