Spanish abstract | El presente artículo presenta resultados de una investigación cualitativa sobre la construcción y los significados sociales del cuerpo en jóvenes mexicanos. En este artículo se presenta el análisis de las entrevistas semiestructuradas y las entrevistas grupales realizadas en barrios populares de la ciudad de Cuernavaca. Los resultados eviden- cian cómo el tener un cuerpo de hombre o de mujer , el hacer cuerpo, forma parte de complejos procesos y trayectorias de aprendizaje renegociados de forma continua en los cuales juegan un rol central los condicionantes de género. Así, los agentes sociales aprenden lo que significa el ser hombre o mujer ( haciendo género), el actuar y ser tratados e identificados como tales de una manera socialmente situada. Es así que la experiencia de hacer género para estos jóvenes está anclada en y a través del cuerpo |
English abstract | This article aims to present the findings of a qualitative research regard- ing the social construction of the body and its meanings among Mexican youngster . Thus, we present the analysis of the semi structured inter - views and the group interviews holded with youngsters of different popular neighbourhoods in Cuernavaca. The findings show that having a woman ’s body or men ’s body and the fact of “ doing gender ”, is a central part of complex learning trajectories processes continuously renegotiated where gender relations play a central role. The social agents learn what means to be a man or a woman ( doing gender ), which implies a certain way of acting, being treated and to be identified in a socially located way . So, “ doing gender ” is e xperienced in and through the body |
