| English abstract | In the work Phenomenology of Perception, the theme of the expression appears directly linked to the theme of perception. To the extent that the body perceives the world according to a perceptive attitude, this attitude involves the expression. The body expresses itself according to the perceptive m ovement that it brings into the world, because perception occurs through a motor attitude, a gesture, from which comes a habit of housing, and sense. The body perceives, situated in the sensitive world, which makes sense to it, and, in as much as it communicates wit h others, it expresses this perception. What the body communicates, even before the words, is the perception of the world. The expression is, then, the gesture by which the b ody communicates in the world. The body expresses itself expressing its perception of the world, because the body makes sense as its perception of the world makes sense, o r, in other words, the meanings of body and world are intertwined. The body makes sens e to the world as well as the world makes sense to the body, the presence of being in t he world is meaningful and ambiguous, and expression ensues from this. Express ion is the intersubjectively manifest perceptive attitude, is the expression of being in the world. Thus, this article seeks to unfold these notions in order to offer an understanding of the relationship between the themes of perception and expression at this stage of Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy |
| Portuguese abstract | Na obra Fenomenologia da percepção , o tema da expressão aparece diretamente vinculado ao tema da percepção. Na medi da em que o corpo percebe o mundo conforme uma atitude perceptiva, tal atitude envolve a expressão. O corpo se expressa conforme o movimento perceptivo que realiz a no mundo, pois a percepção se faz por meio de uma atitude motora, um gesto, a par tir do qual acontece uma prática de habitação e sentido. O corpo percebe situado no mun do sensível, que lhe faz sentido e, na medida em que se comunica com os outros, express a essa percepção. O que o corpo comunica, antes mesmo das palavras, é a percepção d o mundo. A expressão é, então, o gesto com o qual o corpo se comunica no mundo. O co rpo expressa a si, ao expressar sua percepção do mundo, pois o corpo tem sentido co nforme sua percepção do mundo tem sentido, ou seja, os sentidos do corpo e do mun do são imbricados. O corpo significa para o mundo assim como este significa pa ra aquele, a relação do ser no mundo é significativa e ambígua e a expressão decor re disso. A expressão é a atitude perceptiva manifesta intersubjetivamente; é a expre ssão do ser no mundo. Assim, o presente artigo busca desdobrar tais noções a fim d e apresentar uma compreensão do vínculo dos temas da percepção e da expressão nesse momento da filosofia de Merleau- Ponty |
