| English abstract | The present work aims at outlining some historical parallels that exist between the opposition Darstellung / Beschreibung as it is used by the so - called “middle Wittgenstein” and the same opposition in some mathematicians of the nineteenth century, belonging to two distinct schools that differed on the method of mathematical research. Then, we will return to Wittgenstein's writings i n order to show how this historical research may be useful to highlight some points of his philosophy and to raise some problems that arose in this context |
| Portuguese abstract | O objetivo deste trabalho é traçar alguns p aralelos históricos que existem entre a oposição Darstellung / Beschreibung tal como ela é usada por Wittgenstein no período intermediário de seu pensamento e a mesma oposição em alguns matemáticos do século XIX, pertencentes a duas escolas distintas que div ergiam quanto ao método de produção matemática. Em seguida, retornaremos aos escritos de Wittgenstein, buscando mostrar em que medida esta investigação histórica pode ser útil para iluminar alguns pontos de sua filosofia e levantar alguns problemas que sur giram neste contexto |
