| Spanish abstract | El presente REPORTE plantea una nueva forma de abordar los fragmentos de textiles arqueológicos del norte de Chile, fundamentada en el estudio de 16 textiles prehispánicos fragmentados, durante cuyo proceso se evidenció la gran falta de información sobre esas piezas, el constante riesgo de deterioro producido por su manipulación y, por ende, su limitación como objeto de estudio. En este contexto, el Laboratorio de Arqueología del Centro Nacional de Conservación y Restauración (CNCR) de Chile desarrolló un montaje versátil y de bajo costo, denominado marco-ventana, una eficaz herramienta que resguarda el estado de conservación y el manejo de los fragmentos textiles, al tiempo que aumenta su accesibilidad y disponibilidad para su investigación. Tal propuesta apunta a reivindicar los fragmentos textiles arqueológicos como un patrimonio de gran importancia, donde su aporte sea significativo como colección de referencia |
| English abstract | This REPORT presents a new way to address the archaeological textile fragments from the north of Chile. It is based on the study of 16 fragmented pre-Hispanic textiles, in which the lack of information on these pieces was evident, as well as the constant risk of deterioration caused by their manipulation and, therefore, their limitation as object of study. In this context, the Archaeology Laboratory of the National Center for Conservation and Restoration (CNCR for its acronym in Spanish) in Chile developed a versatile and low-cost construction called window-frame, which is an efficient tool to safeguard the state of conservation and handling of textile fragments, while increasing their accessibility and availability for research. Such a proposal aims to reclaim the archeological textile fragments as a heritage of great importance, where their contribution is significant as a reference collection |
