| Spanish abstract | | In 1945, an official of the International Health Division of the Rockefeller Foundation was sent to Mexico to make exploration trips. The goal of the trips was to find the right places to expand the nutrition studies of the Foundation in Mexico. These trips serve us as a starting point to explore how we can analyze the job of the Rockefeller Foundation as a missionary enterprise, and brings to the spotlight other actors, the go-betweens necessary to carry these expeditions. This article aims to study the scientific work from the perspective of the history of religious missions and go-betweens, and to add another layer of analysis to the historiographical narratives about the construction of the “problem” of nutrition of diverse population groups. | English abstract | Durante 1945, un oficial de la International Health Division de la Rockefeller Foundation fue enviado a México para hacer varios viajes de exploración con el objeto de encontrar sitios idóneos para ampliar los proyectos de investigación nutricional que la fundación filantrópica tenía en nuestro país. Estos viajes sirven como punto de partida para mostrar las formas en que el trabajo de la Fundación puede ser analizado como misionero, y apunta a otros actores importantes en este proceso, los intermediarios necesarios para producir dichos viajes. Este texto provee un ejercicio preliminar sobre cómo poder pensar el trabajo científico mediante el análisis de la historia de las misiones y de los intermediarios para enriquecer las narrativas historiográficas sobre la construcción del “problema” nutricional de grupos poblacionales diversos |
