| English abstract | This article aims to examine the International Criminal Court and its importance to humanity. This Court established by the Rome Statute in 1998, entered into force in 2002 when it was deposited the sixtieth document of ratification required for initiating the work. The paper has no intention in exhausting the subject because of the many subjects that this involves, however, as far as possible, its makes a general presentation on the different views and positions on the issue. The research was based in the available bibliography looking for a qualitative analysis of the proposed topic |
| Portuguese abstract | O presente artigo visa analisar o Tribunal Penal Internacional e sua importância para a humanidade. Tal Tribunal estabelecido pelo Estatuto de Roma em 1998, entrou em vigor em 2002 quando foi depositado o sexagésimo documento de ratificação exigido para dar início aos trabalhos. Não se tem a pretensão de exaurir o tema, até em razão de serem muitas as matérias que este envolve, contudo, dentro do possível, realiza-se uma apresentação geral sobre as diferentes opiniões e posicionamentos acerca da questão. O levantamento bibliográfico consistiu em pesquisa na literatura disponível buscando uma análise qualitativa do tema proposto |
