| Spanish abstract | Existen muchas áreas de la actividad docente tradicionalmente descuidadas en la formación del profesorado. Entre ellas está la de sus obligaciones y derechos, y concretamente la denominada libertad de cátedra. En este artículo se revisan (desde un punto de vista informal y nada jurídico) algunos de los malentendidos frecuentes en relación con la libertad de cátedra, con el único propósito de llamar la atención sobre un aspecto de la docencia que puede tener estrecha relación con la calidad y suscitar el debate en torno al mismo |
| English abstract | There are many areas within the teaching profession which have been traditionally neglected in teacher education. One of them is that of lecturers´ obligations and rights, specifi cally the so called academic freedom of speech in university lecturing. This article reviews some of the frequent misunderstandings in relation to this freedom with the purpose of analyzing an aspect of teaching that might have a close link with quality. Although our analysis is informal and does not consider the legal side of the issue, the aim is to open a the debate around this topic |
