English abstract The relationship between health and sanitation is straight, existing problems in sanitation services reflect on the health conditions of the population. This study aims to evaluate the effects of the water destruction network on the health of a municipality in the interior of Tocantins. This is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach of a documentary nature, using the reports from 2017 to 2018 of cases of acute diarrheal diseases from the Health Surveillance Secretariat (SIVP-DDA); of household and territorial registration; and individual assistance from the Primary Care Department Portal (e-SUS). Through the research it was identified that only half of the rural population has running water. There is an increase in cases of diseases between the years analyzed, evidencing the discontinuity of advances regarding the provision of water supply and treatment services in the municipality. It is believed that services should establish strategies regardless of territorial boundaries, optimizing sanitation conditions.

The relationship between health and sanitation is straight, existing problems in sanitation services reflect on the health conditions of the population.
