English abstract Aconitic acid is a trifunctionalized phytochemical present in our local sugar mills in the range from 3 to 6 g/mL. Such molecule shows a high potential for the development of new plastic materials. Herein it is presented how to add value to aconitic acid by copolymerization with alcohols, which are commercially available or even byproducts from other local industries. It was employed different routes for the synthesis of polymeric materials from aconitic acid, yielding a variety of materials with tunable physical and chemical properties. Additionally, we will present a set of more environmental friendly materials obtained from “green chemistry techniques” that avoid the use of organic solvents and employ clean-power-sources
