| Spanish abstract | Del total de unidades económicas existentes en Chile, las microempresas tienen una importante participación y generan un alto número de empleos; sin embargo, en el sector agropecuario se desconoce el detalle de su clasificación de empresas y el aporte de mano de obra. Por tal razón, esta investigación contribuye a sistematizar a las microempresas respecto a las unidades económicas del sector agrícola. Es por ello que el objetivo de este trabajo es caracterizar social, económica y productivamente las microempresas agrícolas de la Provincia de Valdivia, y además determinar el aporte de empleo que éstas generan. La unidad de investigación fueron 139 microempresas, distribuidas en siete comunas, tomando como base la clasificación del Ministerio de Planificación (MIDEPLAN), el que considera a la microempresa como aquella unidad donde operan hasta 9 trabajadores. Adicionalmente, se consideró lo señalado por el Servicio de Cooperación Técnica (SERCOTEC), que clasifica a las empresas de acuerdo al volumen de ventas netas anuales. Los principales resultados indican que el 100% de las microempresas agrícolas se dedica a actividades agropecuarias, destacándose el rubro lechero, donde la Comuna de Máfil presenta el mayor número de microempresarios que desarrolla este rubro, sin embargo, la Comuna de Corral no presentó producción de leche. Estas microempresas contribuyen con mano de obra, especialmente del tipo familiar, y producen un bajo número de empleos remunerados |
| English abstract | The small enterprises are relevant among all economic units of Chile, and they use a large amount of labor; however, the agricultural sector doesn't have classification of small enterprises and doesn't have no quantified the labor supply. Thus, the aim of this paper is the social, economic and productive characterization of small agricultural enterprises that belong to the north area of the Province of Valdivia, and estimate their contribution of employment. Descriptive statistic was used to characterize the enterprises, which allow a qualitative and quantitative analysis. A total of l39 enterprises are analyzed that belong to the Province of Valdivia. The analysis was based on the MIDEPLAN classification, which defines a micro-enterprise as any unity of9 workers or less. In addition, SERCOTEC classification is used, which classify the enterprises according with its yearly sales. All small agricultural enterprises are related to farm activities, mainly dairy production, in the Máfil area, and no dairy farms are found at the Corral area. The results show that small enterprises have an important contribution of labor, particularly among relatives and they have low rates of employment with salary |
