| Spanish abstract | En el marco de una sociedad minera y agraria, y en ausencia de establecimientos bancarios de carácter comercial, las instituciones piadosas amparadas por la Iglesia católica se convirtieron en una fuente importante de recursos crediticios. Este texto presentará, en primer lugar, las clases de instituciones piadosas involucradas; y en segundo lugar, las esferas económicas de la provincia de Antioquia que, en el siglo XVIII, se vieron beneficiadas con la inversión de esos recursos.
