| Spanish abstract | La bibliotheca jesuítica llegó a ser un espacio en el que convivieron impresos y manuscritos. Este espacio testimonia no sólo el pasaje de una cultura de la oralidad al impreso, sino también la transformación de una escritura concebida, sobre todo, para la anotación y fijación de contenidos, a una escritura plasmada en el libro, que tenderá a sustituir a la memoria. La bibliotheca puede ser vista como parábola capaz de iluminar el impacto de la Compañía de Jesús con la primera modernidad. La bibliotheca se abre como un espacio disciplinado en el que se pretende establecer una determinada relación con los saberes. A través de la consideración material de los acervos y de la espacialidad de la bibliotheca es posible postular una escritura más allá de la escritura misma |
| English abstract | The Jesuit bibliotheca (library-archive) became a place in which printed materials and manuscripts coexisted. This place witnesses not only the transition from an oral culture to a printing culture, but also the transformation of writing intended above all for the annotation and conservation of contents to writing in a book-form which tends to substitute the memory. The bibliotheca can be seen as a parable capable of highlighting the Society of Jesus' impact in the early modern period. The bibliotheca operates as a versatile facility which endeavours to discipline a relationship with the body of knowledge (saviors). Taking the library-archive's storage rooms and physical space into account, it is possible to postulate a writing beyond writing itself |
