| Spanish abstract | El ensayo explora la teoría cinematográfica de Siegfried Kracauer, en particular su obra principal Teoría del Cine, desde la cual se revisan las que pueden considerarse sus aportaciones más relevantes. En primer lugar, algunas consideraciones sobre el nacimiento del cine cómo es debatido en el espectro teórico de las tendencias formativas y realistas del medio fílmico. En segundo, algunas consideraciones sobre el realismo cinematográfico al que apela Kracauer y sus implicaciones no sólo estéticas, sino histórico-sociales y políticas. En tercero, la intención de fundar una estética materialista y lo que ésta implica, el volver a la particularidad y especificidad del fenómeno cinematográfico. Cuarto, la tarea consagrada al medio de "redimir" la realidad física y al hacerlo ampliar nuestro espectro sensible. Finalmente, la tradición ensayística de Kracauer y la forma en la que vincula, aún en su tratado sistemático, una escritura del cine a una experiencia de lo cinematográfico |
| English abstract | The present essay explores the film theory of Siegfried Kracauer, specifically as it develops in one of his principal works Theory of Film. It revises what I consider his most significant contributions. In first place some considerations about the birth of cinema as it is contested by the theoretical spectrum or formative and realist theories of film. Second, some considerations on film realism according to Kracauer, and the aesthetical and political implications of his theory. Third, his intention of creating a materialist film theory which returns to the particularity and specificity of the filmic medium. Fourth, the task assigned to cinema of redeeming physical reality and broadening our sensitive spectrum. Finally, the essayist tradition of Kracauer and the form in which he relates, even in his systematic treatise, a writing on cinema to an experience of it |
