| English abstract | In this article we try to understand the meanings attributed to leisure in the processes of cultural identification and urban belonging in a medium-sized city in southern Brazil, based on the theoretical and methodological contributions arising from the fields of History of present time and Oral History. For this, besides the analysis of many writings that circulated in the Brazilian press, we proceed to the historical interpretation of narratives of memory developed by elderly people, observing their sensitivities with respect to the practices of leisure which they experience in the present and / or experienced in the city in which they lived. In the end, we undertook an effort to analyze the ways in which our respondents narrate their own aging and seek to give new dimensions to social ties within local jurisdictions, describing their experiences according to an imagined past and a desired future |
| Portuguese abstract | Neste artigo tentamos compreender os sentidos atribuídos ao lazer nos processos de identificação cultural e de pertencimento urbano numa cidade de médio porte do sul do Brasil, tendo por base as contribuições teórico-metodológicas advindas dos campos da história do tempo presente e da história oral. Para tanto, além da análise de numerosos escritos que circularam pela imprensa brasileira, procedemos à interpretação histórica de narrativas de memória elaboradas por pessoas idosas, atentando para suas sensibilidades no que toca às práticas de lazer que experimentam no presente e/ou experimentaram no passado da cidade em que residem. Ao final, empreendemos um esforço de analisar as formas pelas quais nossos entrevistados narram seu próprio envelhecimento e buscam dar dimensões a novos laços sociais com o local onde residem, qualificando suas vivências de acordo com passados imaginados e futuros almejados |
