| Spanish abstract | El objetivo del presente trabajo consiste en indagar sobre la reconstrucción de la genealogía familiar y de la identidad propia que realiza el autor uruguayo Mauricio Rosencof en Las cartas que no llegaron. La materialidad de la memoria tiene un lugar destacado en la novela; las historias sobrepuestas se configuran con base en espacios y objetos vinculados con la infancia del protagonista además de la historia familiar. En la novela se instala un juego doble en el que la inmediatez referencial se combina con unas estrategias de ficcionalización complejas analizadas en tres partes, correspondientes a las piezas memorialísticas más importantes en la novela: el álbum de familia, las cartas y la palabra |
| English abstract | This article examines the way that Uruguayan author Mauricio Rosencof reconstructs family genealogy and self identity in Las cartas que no llegaron. The materiality of memory has an important place in the novel: the superimposed stories take shape through spaces and objects tied to the protagonist’s childhood and the family history. The author employs a double entendre in which referential immediacy is combined with complex, fictionalizing strategies. The latter, corresponding to the three most important elements regarding memory in the novel, are analyzed separately: the family album, the cards, and the word |
