| Spanish abstract | En este trabajo se analiza la migración femenina de México y Centroamérica a EE. UU, las características principales del fenómeno, las rutas empleadas por las mujeres en su proceso migratorio y los potenciales peligros a los que se en-frentan en su trayecto de viaje. Para ello, presentamos los resultados de una investigación exploratoria desarrollada en la frontera entre México y EE. UU, lugar de paso para muchas de ellas. Empleando un cuestionario semiestructurado, se obtuvo información valiosa sobre la experiencia migratoria de mujeres migrantes indocumentadas que nos permite caracterizarlas y aproximarnos a conocer sus estrategias de viaje y riesgos a los que se enfrentan |
| English abstract | This research analyzes female migration in Mexico and Central America headed towards the US: the main character-istics of the phenomenon, the routes taken by these women in their migration process, and derived from the vulner-ability these women are in -generally- migrants transitting through Mexico, the possible dangers they face during their trip. For this, we present the results of an exploratory research developed in the border of Mexico and the US, where many of them pass by. Using a semiestructured questionnaire, we obtained valuable information about the migration experience of undocumented migrant women, allowing us to characterize and know about the traveling strategies and dangers they face |
