| English abstract | Important intellectual and reference of Brazilian Marxist Geography, Ruy Moreira, “carioca” geographer, was born in the early 1940s, in Rio de Janeiro, then the capital of the Republic, center and symbol of Brazilian modernity and the scene of numerous events and political manifestations of national scope. Almost all its spatial trajectory was spent in the metropolitan environment of Rio. São Paulo, state and city, was also present, especially in its intellectual formation. Of proletarian origin, when he was very young he worked in the service sector in a factory complex in Rio, where his formation and left-wing political activism were rooted, in the trade union movement. The interface between Philosophy, Political Economy, History and Geography is the basis of the structure of thought and argumentation, always focused on Brazil, especially to unveil the geoeconomic and political dynamics that drives Brazilian society. This article seeks to present and explore the spatial trajectory of this geographer, seeking to associate it with the construction of his thinking, as well as to discuss the contribution of his work to Brazilian geography |
| Portuguese abstract | Importante intelectual e referência da Geografia marxista brasileira, Ruy Moreira, geógrafo carioca, nasceu no início da década de 1940, em um Rio de Janeiro, então capital da República, centro e símbolo da modernidade brasileira e palco de inúmeros eventos e manifestações políticas de alcance nacional. Quase toda sua trajetória espacial foi passada no ambiente metropolitano do Rio. São Paulo, estado e cidade, também esteve presente, especialmente, em sua formação intelectual. De origem proletária, quando muito jovem trabalhou no setor de serviços em um complexo fabril no Rio, onde sua formação e militância política de esquerda tiveram raízes, no movimento operário sindical. A interface entre Filosofia, Economia Política, História e Geografia constitui a base da estrutura de seu pensamento e argumentação, sempre voltada para o Brasil, sobretudo, para desvelar a dinâmica geoeconômica e política que movimenta a sociedade brasileira. Este artigo procura apresentar e explorar a trajetória espacial desse geógrafo, buscando associá-la à construção de seu pensamento, assim como discutir a contribuição de sua de obra para a Geografia brasileira |
