| English abstract | This text explores the relations between body, identity of gender and space, considering the production of geographic knowledge that systematically has contributed to the occultation and invisibility of people who are on the margin of the hegemonic norms of gender and have been silenced in their struggle for citizenship. Th e procedure for this investigation has been developed in two years of systematic observation and interviews carried out with a group of thirteen people who haves male bodies and live their lives as women. Like several other groups such as drag - queens, drag - kings, transsexuals, among others, this group transgress the heteronormativity, removing the pretense compulsory order of the body binary organization, of the gender identities, the desires and the space. Moreover, it contributes to a critique of the hege mony concerning the heteronormativity conception of space. This study, besides making visible people’s spatial ways of living enduring a peripheral sexuality, contributes criticizing the hegemony of the heteronormativity conception of space |
| Portuguese abstract | Este texto explora as relações entre corpo, identidade de gênero e espaço problematizando a produção do conhecimento geográfico que tem, sistematicamente, contribuído pa ra a ocultação e invisibilidade de pessoas que estão à margem das normas hegemônicas de gênero e têm sido silenciadas na luta pelos direitos cidadãos. A operacionalização desta investigação desenvolveu - se em dois anos de observação sistemática e de entrevi stas realizadas com um grupo de treze pessoas que se auto - identificaram como 'travestis'. Assim como vários outros grupos como as drag - queens, drag - kings, transexuais, entre outros, as travestis são pessoas que transgridem a heteronormatividade, desalojand o a pretensa ordem compulsória de organização binária dos corpos, das identidades de gênero, dos desejos e do espaço. Este estudo, além de tornar visível as vivências espaciais de pessoas que experienciam uma sexualidade periférica, contribui para a crític a à hegemonia da concepção heteronormativa do espaço |
