| English abstract | Costa analyzes religion among the Greek, showing the absence of proven atheism, which was considered a “disease”. In light of Psalm 14, he analyzes the origin of atheism and some of its characteristics and intellectual, spiritual, and ethical implications. One of the conclusions is that if every knowledge comes from God, the denial of God’s existence will inevitably produce an intellectual disturbance that will affect our ability to know the ontological meaning of things and therefore the existencial knowledge of what is real. Without God life is devoid of meaning. He also warns us about the danger of the practical atheism practiced by Christians and reasserts the certainty that the universe in which we live has an attentive God who directs history in a holy, righteous, and merciful way |
| Portuguese abstract | Costa analisa a religião entre os gregos, demonstrando a ausência de ateísmo comprovado, sendo este considerado uma “doença”. À luz do Salmo 14, analisa a origem do ateísmo e algumas de suas características e implicações intelectuais, espirituais e éticas. Uma das conclusões é que se todo o conhecimento parte de Deus, a negação de sua existência gerará, inevitavelmente, um distúrbio intelectual que afetará a nossa capacidade de conhecer o significado ontológico das coisas e, portanto, existencial do real. Sem Deus a vida é nula de sentido. Adverte-nos também quanto ao perigo de um ateísmo prático cometido pelos cristãos e a certeza de que o universo no qual vivemos tem um Deus atento que dirije a história de forma santa, justa e misericordiosa |
