| Spanish abstract | El proceso de globalización ha modificado la estructura socioespacial de las ciudades en todo el mundo, variando sus efectos en cada contexto nacional. En el ámbito económico, la adopción del modelo neoliberal ha provocado que las ciudades se transformen, creciendo desmesuradamente debido a las políticas de liberalización de los mercados de suelo urbano. En Chile, esta medida, tomada en la década del 70, luego del Golpe Militar, trajo consecuencias especialmente en los precios del suelo y en la segregación residencial. Así también, los programas de vivienda social han sido grandes promotores de la segregación residencial, instalándose donde existen terrenos de bajos costos y donde las nuevas viviendas, también de bajo costo, colindarán con viviendas pobres. Las manifestaciones de esta acción tanto espaciales como sociales, se describen en el presente artículo, mediante información empírica recogida en la población “Plazas de Chivilcán” de Temuco |
| English abstract | The globalization process has modified the social and spatial structure of the cities around the world, altering the effects in each national context. In the economic area, the adoption of the newliberal model has incited the cities to change, growing in an excessive way, because of the urban land markets’ liberalization policies. In Chile, this measure, taken in the 70s’, after the Coup d’Etat, brought consequences, specially on the land’s prices and in the residential segregation. Also, the social buildings’ programs have been great promoters of the residential segregation, settling where there are low price lands and where the new houses, with low prices too, will be located next to poor buildings. The manifestations of this action spatial and social, are described in this article, through empiric information gathered in the Temuco’s Plazas de Chivilcán district |
