| Spanish abstract | El presente artículo analiza las relaciones textuales que teje la controversial novela francesa Massimissa (1976) de Jorge Ricardo Gómez, con la novela clásica colombiana, María (1867), de Jorge Isaacs. Esta perspectiva comparativa y genealógica permite, en conjunto, estudiar las ficciones de identidad que impone el diálogo cultural entre Europa y América Latina en la segunda mitad del siglo XX, todo lo cual deja entrever formas instituidas en las relaciones de poder —exotismo, realismo mágico, voyeurismo—, pero, de igual modo, el decidido intento de consolidar una nueva hegemonía capaz de ofrecer una visión otra de la historia literaria y de la constitución de las naciones hispanoamericanas. Massimissa constituye, entonces, una ficción hereje ocupada en dinamitar el discurso opresivo latinoamericano |
| English abstract | This article analyzes the textual relations woven by the controversial French novel Massimissa (1976) by Jorge Ricardo Gómez in comparison with the Colombian classic novel María (1867) by Jorge Isaacs. This genealogic and comparative perspective allows, as a whole, to study the identity fictions imposed by the cultural dialogue between Europe and Latin America in the second half of the 20th century. This is evidence of both the forms instituted in the geopolitics of power —exoticism, magical realism, voyeurism— and the resolute attempt to consolidate a new hegemony that can offer a different vision of the literary history and of the exocomposition of the Hispanic American nations. Massimissa constitutes, then, a heretical fiction aimed at destroying the oppressive discourse that represses the multiple identities that comprise Latin America |
